When I put the cd or dvd in, it just spins for awhile and stops. Nothing comes up on the pc. Before I take this in to be fixed is there anything that I can do myself that may correct the problem?

did you try different CDs/DVDs? can you check if your drive is present? (go to "My computer" and see f your CD/DVR drive icon appears). If it does, then insert a CD/DVD and manually open it there...depending on your answer, I could help you further. Or you could email me (yahoo account)...clnm2000

Go to the device manager and uninstall the DVD/CD drive in question, then reboot the computer. This reloads the drivers for that DVD/CD drive. The drivers sometimes become corrupt.

there's a small hollow in the front panel of the CD rigidity. unfold a great paperclip so as that there is a few a million inch right now section protruding. Insert it into the hollow on the rigidity and push firmly to liberate and open the rigidity. maximum in all probability you probably did no longer have the disk seated good in the previous remaining the rigidity.
