Some people pefer to be "alone" . I can deal with that. I find it shocking that many do not practice or at least share my views. How do you feel?

People are afraid of things that are diffrent. when someone doesnt let everyone all up in their business people get upset because secretly their self worth goes down because they think "Why don't they talk to me? Why are they not my friend?" etc. etc.

I tend to be a loner and I know I am perceived as stuck up. Its simply b/c I keep to myself. I just stay inside my head sometimes. Its not that I am anti-social. I just stay to myself more often than not. I think b/c I sit in a corner at the bookstore and read I am viewed as stuck up when thats not the case. If someone interesting came up and struck up a conversation I would surely engage. Sometimes I just would rather be to myself. I work around people all day and I have to be upbeat all the time. So its my choice to slow down and stay to myself sometimes.

A social mind is usually one that shares major common values with those in the chosen community of interest(i.e. Partying, health, making money, religion, education, etc...) Many values differ greatly from one group to the next but some do not. We all crave a "family" of "co-conspirators" in whatever occupies our imagination.

Do these hypothetical loners' values significantly differ from immediate society's, or are they merely scared of public exposure?

I believe many people have different forms of undiagnosed autism that makes it difficult or impossible to process much in the way of environmental stimulation, especially when groups of people are involved. They tend to shut down like a baby when it is overstimulated. To add to their trauma they are often exposed in a diminished state of functioning and the trauma unfolds further. So many tell me of their dreams of humiliation that I must believe this is a common occurence for most people. At least I know it is a strong theme in my growing up.

Often "loners" hold an air of contempt for society out of self-defense, which people sense and recognize as what they call "stuck up". Contempt is nearly impossible to hide and isn't really ever intended to be hidden. It is intended to rob power from and subjugate those it deems a threat.

I would guess that, just like socialites, loners who are truly comfortable with their lives and minds are in the minority. But I do believe anybody will generally avoid public exposure if they are out of their comfort zone, which might just mean they are tired.

I have also noticed that habitually contemptuous people love to argue that "enlightened people" do not exist and will tend to attack the wise person attempting repose.

But either way, cynical contempt prevents truth and intimacy from occuring, further preventing emotional growth of the subject.

Cynicism is a disease that has a cancer-like effect on both individual and environment, stealing away the nourishment of good intention and the atmosphere of free speech.

There is some safety in numbers if you learn to lead for the right reason. Conspire for life and all of life will support you.

My Mom said I look standoffish and rude, when the truth is maybe people just aren't used to me or I would rather, generally, be left alone.

I'm a loner, but I have slight xenophobia, I have disdain for the general mass, but I'm jealous of them too "ignorance is bliss", the more you seperate from others the more you see their flaws.

its not that theyre stuck up its just that the lack of conversation and contact makes them seem uppity or choosy as to who they speak with
