As an American, I feel that it is our duty to stop the genocide that is plagueing Darfur. However, I don't think we will be able to go in there and stop it because the entire world is mad at us for being at war already. (IM PRO WAR IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN)This means that we will do nothing and let hundreds of thousands be killed by fanatical muslims(surprise suprise) because the world doesnt want the US military to flex its muscles. This means that a European nation must step in and take care of the job but which one? Is there a European nation or a coalition of European nations that has the military might to stop the genocide. I really dont think so.

Look
Peace is a Christian Ideal.
Imposing peace on Muslims is denying religious freedom.
So denying religious freedom is unconstitutional.
So the US cannot stop the genocide.
The US should protect Muslims constiututional right to kill each other in the name of Islam,

Depends what you call genocide. I think what is going on in Iraq and Afghanistan is genocide. Whole tribes are displaced and towns blown away. Also in Gaza. That is the real genocide as far as I'm concerned. And I think the UN should sort it out. Whats the point America going to Darfur with their record or their current destruction of other countries? Frankly, if you think this is a good idea then, boy , you are not very clued up. I think you are one of those western war mongers who see it as game where you could say you won. Stick to football. Also with the insurgency in your favourite countries at their worst, I don't think America has the stomach to start another front right now.

The obvious answer is the Sudanese Government - unfortunately they are complicent in the impending slaughter. The world seems to have a false conscence when it comes to local genocides - we all remember Rwanda, and I suspect that when the killing really gets going there will be a lot of noise, but very little action.

I am not sure that this is Muslims killing Muslims. I think its a Muslim Government backing Arab militias to kill African tribal people (whom I do not think are muslims but am willing to be corrected). It is highly unlikely that any Muslim or Arab country would do, or want to do anything. And as for the Africans, they are mostly incompetent or indifferent - or perhaps both.

Personnally, as awful as it sounds, we should keep out.

Yes, why does the US have to stop genocide? i don't know, can other countries step up? I wish the UK would, and take care of Darfur, if there was another country like the UK going in to Darfur, to stop the genocide, this would show the world, that the US and the UK mean business

Like the Americans stepped in to help the Rwandans or the Ethiopians or the Armenians!!

The USA only steps in when it wants something, like oil! Lets not pretend that it works for altruistic motives!

And how about the people in Afghanistan, now starving and far worse off than they were after the Americans and the British just walked off and left them to it because they had more oil to gain in Iraq!!

I only hope that the United Nations will step in at Darfur, but they are so busy trying not to offend anyone that they are pretty useless - so it will be down to the usual charities to try and help. Dig deep into your conscience and your pockets and help that way!

The key is China.

The Chinese are buying into Sub-Saharan East Africa like sailors on shore leave, as someone mentioned earlier there is a lot of oil and similar in Darfur, but wait... There's more...

To the West of Sudan is Chad, with an ailing dictator being deserted by his army and enduring regular border raids by Janjawid (Sudanese Arab) unofficial militias armed with Chinese weaponry, Sudanese rebels sheltering in Eastern Chad, Chaddian refugees streaming out of their way to avoid a localised tribal war being funded by... Well you can guess the rest.

The Chinese could use their massive influence and stop the whole thing in its tracks but why bother when as it is, the whole thing undermines the morale of the West..?

Like you helped the people of Afghanistan & Iraq?

Is that what you mean?

You aren't even in charge in Afghanistan any more, you've the British to resolve the huge insurgency you left. There's more fighting there than ever, so don't talk BS and say you helped anyone. As fao Iraq, now one of the most dangerous places in the worls to live, how exactly did you help them? There are more dieing now than under Saddam! And there been more Americans killed in Iraq than 9/11! So who's the bigger murderer?

And stop gobbing off that you 'solve' problems. You can't even look after your own cities, never mind other peoples countries!

I do not understand why the USA would have to stop the genocide in Darfur. This is an arabian country, where muslims kill muslims. The proud Arabean Lega (with its Headquarter in Cairo) surely will intervent, if necessary. And if they will not see any need for an intervention, if it is ok for them that muslims kill muslims am sure, Allah will find it o.k. too. Please leave this conflict in the hands of Allah and the Arabs!

I'm not sure the USA can stop the genocide in Darfur. Where would we get the troops without starting a draft. Let the Europeans and Africans deal with it, if they please.

US should take care of its own problems before thinking of helping others. (crime gangs drug, poverty, homelessness etc.)
There are countries with with more military power than or like US
such as Russia etc. Africa can also take care of its problems if they let them. We should stop poking our nose in to other peoples affairs. Lets take care of this society first. We have more genocide than they do. People shooting kids, kids shooting teachers etc. They at least have war, but what do we have that is making us have too many guns around? Even kids take guns to school.
