Here's the story.
Jake was told that a girl was pregnant a little over 3 months ago. The Bob that told the Jake and the girl thought she was, but she wasn't. Now, so Bob wouldn't be embarrassed and called a liar, the Bob didn't tell Jake about it, and they let them think it was true.
Now, 3 1/2 months later, Jake keeps asking how the pregnancy was coming along and blah blah blah. Bob and Jake are very close.
Bob decided to start making up a miscarry. After a time span of a few weeks, the girl ended up in the hospital. Bob called and told Jake. Now Jake wants to know what hospital she's at, her room number and the phone number so they can call and talk to her. Bob gave Jake the actual number to the hospital. Now, everyone knows she's not there.
So, what is Bob to do or say (WITHOUT TELLING THE TRUTH?!) to Jake when they call back and say that the girl wasn't at that hospital?

Bob on the phone: She's okay and back at home. It was some complications in her stomach because of the miscarry and all. Don't worry and get some sleep. Tomorrow, we'll start picking out tuxs for her funeral in a few months.
Jake: What!?
Bob: Yes, she has AIDS and it's....your fault! Shame on you, you disease spreading freak! On second thought, this friendship is over! *slams phone*
Now they never talk to each other again and Bob can stop lying to him. Yes, Jake will be an idiot and have a AIDS scare, making him go get checked but the friendship will be done by then.

In the end, Bob should just say she made it up to get Jake upset and worry about her,so, Bob is in the clear and she looks like a liar.

Bob should suck it up and tell the truth. Admit it was a mistake that got out of hand. Trust me, the embarrassment over making up this other crap will be twice as bad if he doesn't speak up and get it over with Jake will find out eventually, and if Bob doesn't stand up now and tell him he made a mistake, it will only get worse. Here's how..

Without telling the truth, i can't help you. i'm not a good liar so, i would have told the truth. if he doesn't tell the truth he is just going to have to keep makeing up more and more lies.

she was using a fake name because her parents didn't know that she was pregnant and she didn't want them to know that she had a miscarriage.
