Answer above me is correct. Tigers - as the wild card - are the 4th seed in their league. Doesn't matter how many wins they have or if they have more wins than another division winner, they remain the 4th seed.

As such, Oakland has home field advantage in the ALCS.

because tigers are wild card, so they lose home field for entire postseason. even if they have the better record the a's got the division title.
