Well, I have heard from some people that bettas can be with any other fish except other bettas, but some people say the bettas will shred them up. Do you think as long as the betta is young and it grows up with the cories that it won't tear the cories to pieces? And as long as the betta isn't very aggressive? I really love bettas and cories, and I'd like to put them together. So please help?

Thank you (so far!). I will name the cories Holly and Christina and the betta will be Fishy McFish Fish.

Bettas are not aggressive fish - only the males are aggressive to other male bettas. You can put other community fish - including cory cats - in with your bettas.

By the way, only the males are aggressive toward each other. You can put several females together or add several female bettas to a community tank.

The betta should be fine with the cory's expecialy if the betta is female it. The males are more aggressive against other males. Bettas can be put will a lot of semi aggressive fish and will actually bring out the color in them. I have seen this pratice done in pet shops. But as with any type of aggressive fish I would watch them to make sure they get along. Possible tank mates include Dwarf Gouramis, Head&Tail Lite Tetras, Moons, Mollies, Catfish, Small Red Tail Shark.

I don't see any problem mixing the two. Cory's are not aggressive like the Betta and they stay at the bottom of the tank for the most part. The only time Betta will be aggressive is if they are being threatened or are put in a tank with another aggressive fish.

I've never tried it, even though we have both, but I think it would work since corys are bottom dwellers and the bettas usually stay near the top. Watch them very carefully though, and give the corys some rocks and low vegitation for shelter, too.

PS, every female betta I've had (about 4 over the years) has been wicked agressive towards any other fish I've put them with(even male bettas and other females), so that comment earlier about them being peaceful is not always true.
good luck.

I never had luck putting a betta with other fish. Not that the betta is agressive but that the other fish pick at the bettas long fins. It stress the fish and adventurally dies. I say no but of course if you do deside to try it, just keep an eye on him. If you notice his fins frading then you can remove him.

I used to have fish including bettas and they were never aggressive with any other fish.
