Jews. Palestinians. Israelis. Holocaust.Diary of Anne Frank. Hitler. Nazi Germany. concentration camps....and on and on and on and I am forever hearing about the Jewish people:
"Never Again",they say over and over again.
allright. So you don't want it to happen again. But I have enough problems of my own. I don't want it to happen again either, and I doubt it will. But I am tired of it. I am tired of everyday reminders.. Whites, Catholics, Blacks, Irish....have all had problems...
as have countless other groups. ALL underwent their own personal experiences of the "Holocaust"
Soon I'll be immune to any talk of the Holocaust.

My nationality is unimportant.,I am 23, female, college educated, went to what you define as a liberal ivy league univ. Many Jewish students there. I live in Jewish neighborhood; I shop in places where many customers are Jewish. I have a life. I will start undergrad next semester. I lost both parents in car accident less than a year ago. I have a life. I volunteer 35 hours a week in a city hospital.(sometimes more) I do not have to work for a paycheck. I go out; have travelled; have friends; still, I hear about it. I do not watch television; I read - WashingtonTimes,Wash.Post,NYTimes, NewYorker, Time,USNews and World Rpt mags, publications from and about Neoconservatives ideologies, American Enterprise Instuitute, Center for Security Policy,Institute for Strategic Affairs, Foundation for Defense of Democracies, New American Cenury and so on. I do not go to the moves. I am very familiar with history. I speak from my experience re the above subject. Now. Other answers please?

You are wrong Acid Tongue.
I posted this question at about 10:35 pm EST Sunday, October 8, 2006. I have no idea where you are but the news about North Korea didn't reach my ears until 11 pm. I seldom watch television but had turned it on to scan the headlines and check the weather. I first heard about it as I said, at about 11 pm on a "Breaking News segment, MSNBC" which I watched for about two minutes, then turned it off. Why? Because I prefer to READ about news from several sources. I am not at all impressed by so-called 'experts' that are presented on most of the news networks to give their "take" on various issues everytime there is Breaking News.
In fact I posted a short "Have you heard...?" question about North Korea at about 11:10 pm after I heard about North Korea..
So you are wrong, okay?

To my knowledge, the survivors of the "Holocaust" are the only ones that received restitution for crimes against humanity. I guess they feel that money will somehow compensate them, so they keep it front and center. Also, there were more victims besides the Jews that few people acknowledge. During the war many undesirables were sent to work camps such as Auschwitz. In the movie about Auschwitz, they showed that the sick were separated from the healthy people. The sick were gassed. Those that lived outside the camps in the cities that were flattened by massive bombing, testify that the conditions throughout many parts of Germany were as bad or worse than in the work camps. There was no medicine or antibiotics, food was scarse and supplemented with sawdust just to help people survive. Trains supplying food and clothes were bombed as were factories. The bombing was often timed during shift changes to double the casualties, men women and their children. many of the major cities were burned by phosphor bombs that burned them to the ground. The people lived among the rats in basements in a climate similar to the Northern U.S. The undesirables in the camps had shelter but the food and medicine was as scarce for them as was the general population. So euthanasia was the option to try to sustain the healthier ones, something many people in North America advocate for the terminally ill. I'm not only sick of hearing about the "Holocaust" but am sickened about all that happened that we never hear about both then and now such as active euthanasia and abortions.

You are not wrong to be tired of it. And you are right in your feelings that you too have your own problems. As do the rest of us mortals. I too have had to suffer and make sacrifice in my life but it doesn't make national headlines and I deal with it quietly. Plenty of us do. Sure we have to learn from history but some who have posted and say we have to keep talking about it so we can remember and not repeat those mistakes are kidding themselves. We now have an administration who has essentially taken us back 20 years. The media has shoved 911 down our throats so much that small children to most adults are on medications for anxiety/post traumatic stress disorders. There comes a point when you have to let it go. It is unhealthy. Let's also look at the recent tragedy that happened in PA where a school bus full of children was hit and children were killed in an Amish community. The community as a whole forgave the driver who was responsible. They forgave him so they could move on. It has also been documented that saturation of a tradegy can make it have less of an impact and cause bitterness. This is evident everywhere around you.

Everyone else IS tired of hearing about it. But the Jewish controlled Media will never let the rest of the world forget that the Jews have special victim status. The killings in Rwanda are hardly mentioned but that was certainly genocide on a grand scale.

I thought that the Holocaust was overdone for many years, particularly because it is presented as a uniquely Jewish event that minimizes the significance of other recent genocides. With reflection, I now think that the Holocaust resonates with the present. The next time the you and I may be included in the target group. I like the ring of 'never again' because it applies to my future survival.

Wow, had sad for you. It is already happening. Because this did not happen in your life time, you don't care how extreme it was. By not talking about it and not remembering it, then it could so easily happen again. 6 million people suffered horrendous deaths. And the ones who did live through it carry scars you could never begin to imagine. I am not Jewish, but something that horrific affects everyone in the world. Heaven help us, you are more proof of what today's young people are like. When it is said they are selfish, cold and uncaring, self absorbed, etc. You back up all those statements and all the other negative things said about today's youth. How sad..............................................

How much escapism do you need? Don't you have enough with all those dumb celebrities, Big Brother, American Idol, junk shows, shallow movies, rich spoiled stupid whorish hotel heiresses, trashy actors and their children peeking through supermarket tabloids, pointless sport-talk, gossiping, and insipid "humour"?

I think modern society has plenty of escapism for people like you to hide. If anything, we need *more* political awareness, not less. There's still millions of people living under conditions of political opression, extreme poverty, starvation, inequality and injustice all over the world, and many times this is consequence of the actions of western governments and the political apathy of their citizens, who don't care to learn about what their country does in the world and let their politicians get away with all sorts of international crimes.

We need more political awareness, not less. God forbid, you may one day find yourself living in these terrible conditions, and you will *pray* for the well-off to remember about you.

The fact that the Holocaust happened is an important fact. We need to know that it did and how it did, so we can guard against something similar happening again.

On the other hand, dwelling on ANYTHING over and over and over can only blunt it's affect on us.

We must remember, and we must remind ourselves occasionally. We must speak out against terrible things when we know they are happening. And, in my opinion, that is enough.

And by the way, I *am* Jewish.

I just wanted to say that I don't think that your question is unreasonable or rudely stated - I don't think there is anything wrong with it at all.

To anyone who has a personal link to the Holocaust, your question might seem to be in poor taste - but that's about the extent of any *bad* that I see.

You have the right to be tired of references to the Holocaust - but I think it would be foolish and short-sighted if you ignored it completely.

Be well!

Its may be because there are a lot of Jewish people in the movie industry. We don't hear much about the millions slaughtered in Rwanda less than 20 years ago do we? not many Rwandins in control of media or Hollywood....

You are so wrong to be tired of it. The Holocaust was one of THE worst genocides in history. Those people who survived are scarred for life. You can't just expect for them to be okay with it. They probably will never get over it. It's a physchological thing that is going to stay with them for the rest of their lives. You would be the same exact way if this situation happened to you. I'm catholic, and I know friends who are jewish. I don't know if you do, but if my friend was taken away into something like that I would freak. So yeah, it might be draining, but you can't imagine the mental depression these people have gone through, you can't just expect them to get over it. These people probably will never get over it.
