I do have antibiotics to clear it up. I have had recurring infections so far throughout my pregnancy and would like to know other ways to treat the symptoms so that i don't have to take antibiotics all the time.

Cranberries, cranberry juice are well known to keep the urinary tract clear of infection, also garlic 1-glove a day and the same with onion guards and kills bacteria in the body, yes know it gives unpleasant breath but plenty of clean breath products available or take some lemon juice and swish around the mouth-although there are garlic pills and so forth just don't think as good as the real thing but if for some reason you can't then the pills that contain the amicillin are still good. You can check with your doctor first but am not aware of any of these being harmful to the baby but may also be beneficial. Just do in moderation and not to the extreme. Also since its important to drink water mix in some cranberry juice whenever you do. There's also diet cranberry juice available which has less sugar and if for some reason you can't take cranberries right now then there are cranberry pills but think the original made by God still the best. My cousin had a baby recently that is now approx 4 mos and the joy is beyond words-wish you the same with your baby.

Cranberry juice is always a great natural way to keep a healthy urinary tract. There is also an over the counter product, such as Uristat, that will alleviate the symptoms until you can get to the doctor, but it is NOT a treatment. Antibiotics, while not popular, are the most effective treatment to date.

The best way I've found to avoid them is to drink a glass of cranberry juice everyday and to be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. There are, also, cranberry supplements on the market that I've taken. These are great if you hate drinking cranberry juice. You might want to figure out what your "trigger's are too. I've learned that I cannot use any kind of bath salts or bubble bath when I take a bath and I make my husband wear condoms during certain times of the month.

Stick with the doctor's orders and antibiotics. I've heard that eating cereal will provide a lot of fiber which helps the infection as does cranberry juice.

The only way to treat a UTI is to take the prescribed antibiotics and make sure you take ALL of them or your UTI's will keep coming back and will eventually become resistant to antibiotics. Always urinate after intercourse and make sure to wipe front to back after using the toilet. You must drink plenty of fluids. Cranberry capsules taken daily can help prevent an infection but not always.

If you have an aversion to drinking scads of cranberry juice then you might want to look into "Azo-Cran" which is a cranberry supplement produced by the makers of AzoStandard (the UTI relief medication that has saved many of us so much discomfort over the years!).

Better than guzzling litres of cranberry juice - take cranberry supplements available from any health food store or pharmacy.

There are other tips, like emptying your bladder before and especially after sex. Also, always wipe from front to back after passing urine to keep E. coli out. Try to completely empty your bladder, then wait 2 minutes and try again. And never 'hold on' - when you need to go - go!

UTIs are common during pregnancy. Drink lots, especially acidic drinks like cranberry juice. Keep the area clean and dry, and wear cotton underpants.
