Oceania when we talk about the whole Continent. (New Zealand, New Guinea, various islands of the Malay Archipelago, and of course, Australia).

Australia when we are talking only about the country.

Always for the continent it's Oceania, and the country is Australia

Oceania sounds nice, but I've always known it as Australia myself.

We in the US refer to them by their names. But like to refer to them as "Down Under". Question, Are Aussies offended by the US resturant "outback"? They have good steaks there.... Mmm....

Well, I always learned it as Australia, but my kids are learning it as Oceania.
