i own a repair shop, and you have to remove the center bolt out of it,and then you,ll need a harmonic puller or a good steering wheel puller will some times do it,and then you just start tightening the puller until the balance starts off, once it starts off it comes off real easy so there,s not a lot of effort involved with it,but make sure the puller doesn't go in side the crank threads and mess them up,,you may have to use a small washer to prevent this from happening to it,then it should come right off of it,just take your time doing it,,if you get in a hurry you may mess up,i know i do,,good luck i hope this help,s.,PS you may have to get some different bolts to thread in the balancer, the ones that usually come with the tool sometimes wont work well, good luck

use an impact wrench to remove the center bolt...the ones I have worked on the balancer slides off easily. normally you don't need a puller of any type. just undo the belts...use the impact to remove the center bolt and slide it off...that simple....no need to jam a wrench or anything in the flywheel...that's so much extra work. If you don't have the tools to do it then I'd suggest taking it to a garage where they can do it for you or having someone you know with the tools help you out. use the impact to reinstall the center bolt as well...unless you have a real powerful impact you won't hurt or break the bolt

Detailed instructions with pictures can be found here:

They use a special tool to jam the flywheel/flex plate. You can remove the starter motor, or the inspection plate between the trans and engine and jam something like a tire iron to keep the flywheel from moving while removing the harmonic balance bolt.

Good Luck. E-mail if you have further questions by clicking on my name on the left.

There's a special puller for these engines, an auto supply store might carry them. I'm in the trade and bought mine from Snap On.
