For example banks can scam customers into taking out insurance on loans etc when it is not possible for the customer to claim on it. If an independent door to door salesman used the same strategies and got found out they would be arrested. Why does society allow big companies the protection to get away with things like this?

Big companies get caught.Martha Stewert,Enron to name a few.Clinton got caught but got out of it due to a great lawyer.Most of the other people in her company went to jail.

Because big business are the ones who fund campaines. Why would they put behind bars the one's who feed them?
