I have come to the conclusion that many people on this board have an irrational hatred of this man. I asked whether Vladimir Putin was the next Hitler, and the vast majority of the responses so far have been saying stuff like "no, Bush is. DUHHHH".

Should I be taking any of these people seriously in regards to any of their views on world affairs/politics when they obviously have no idea as to what is going on in the world around them?

Again, more responses from people who don't have the slightest clue as to what Putin has been doing over in Russia.

It is amazing how disparate the levels of intelligence are on this site. I have read very profound things on this site and I have heard some of the biggest idiots that I have ever come across. They are usually the "Bush is Hitler" or "Bush blew up the WTC" crowd. I realize that it is possible to disagree with the president but their level of complete incompetence make it difficult to take this site seriously.

I have a couple of clowns who email me every hour, they claim to be brilliant but they just spew the typical liberal insults, amazing but I wonder how they get out of bed in the morning

Bush is definitely the target of more irrational hatred. However disagreement or concern or even downright fear of his policies may not be irrational. Concern about Hillary's qualifications to lead our nation may not be irrational either but since she has not even been nominated yet I would consider hatred towards her fairly irrational. We really need to learn how to view politics with a little less passion and a little more rationality. We have been at this for over 200 years and we still act like European Soccer fans.

I agree that there is hate involved, but look around and see it not only from the left, but also from the right. So many of the people who like, or at least show some respect to Bush, went crazy over Clinton and Monica. There has always been rivalry between the parties, but this hatred thing started about Johnson or Nixon. It's awful, it's tearing the country apart, and thinking people SHOULD attempt to use some reason on their own and not just believe their party line.

Are there other people out there who are generally in the middle? I vote for the person. If my party puts a couple of BAD people up, I switch party for a while! But if they just put one person up that I don't like, then I cross party lines and vote for the person I THINK is better. NOT what the NYTimes or Fox says, but actually what I think or feel.
I just called some woman an idiot because she wonders if Reagan was/is the Devil. Pretty mean and stupid of her, and just plain mean of me.

I'm not sure I would go so far as to call it an irrational hatred. There is a certain amount of anger over many of the actions he has initiated under false pretenses. If he truly has nothing to hide, perhaps not lying occasionally would reinforce that point. Here are just a few of the reasons people feel the need to be angry with president bush,
He ordered the invasion of a sovereign nation under a pretense allegedly with full knowledge that there were no weapons of mass destruction and that the intelligence supporting such accusations was not reliable.
He pushed for a law that removes a large portion of your rights, and limits your options if the government wants to label you as a suspected anything.
He ordered the interrogation of prisoners using techniques which are widely considered torture and that we would not tolerate if used on US prisoners.
He ordered the illegal tapping of phone lines belonging to US citizens that might be contacting people who might be terror related.
He ordered secret prisons in countries other than the US so that torture of prisoners could go on unobserved.
He denied any contact with Abramoff but emails and schedules show that not to be true.
I would suggest that tunnel vision is something you also suffer from and while I agree that Putin is probably not the most honorable leader in the world, it is imperative that we are allowed to question, to observe, and to speak out, lest we lose what we claim to be our biggest strength.

You are absolutely correct. A large chunk of the "contributors" of this forum haven't a clue about what is really going on in the world. I sometimes think that Yahoo allows elementary schoolers (or the equivalent) to post willy-nilly anything that bubbles up to the surface. A *HUGE* portion of both post and questions are the equivalent of "Don't you think that Clinton (or mostly Bush) is a poo-poo head?" And if you even slightly "insult" one of them you run the risk of a "Violation of Community Guidelines" from Yahoo. Use of sarcasm or hyperbole goes right over their heads. But that's the nature of this forum... nothing like it's advertised to be.

Looks like the republican party is going down. With all the revelation of misconduct , lies and deceit and cover ups, what has occurred with the asking of this question is mere mental masturbation.

We should be more concerned with the conduct of the people in our government than with what happens internally in other countries. Maybe there is an issue with Putin, I don't know, but the government of the United States has acted abominably since 9/11. We should consider repairing the international damage this current administration has caused. But then you and I have no power to effect changes anyway.

It's certainly no more irrational than the incessant hatred of Ted Kennedy, Bill & Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry from those on the other side.

It's all pretty doggone silly.

I mean really, conservatives talk more about Ted Kennedy than anybody else out there...

I don't hate Georgie, but my lack of respect for him is perfectly rational. The man is a tyrant who would repeal the Bill of Rights if he could. Just look at his track record.

My family just got TV. We haven't had it since 2003. My 4 year old was watching CSPAN with me, and George Bush was talking. My son turned to me and said "Is he a bad guy?"

I don't want to indoctrinate a child with any political ideology, so I just said "He's the president"

My son studied him intently for a few more minutes, then concluded "I think he's just pretending to be nice to trick all those people, and is not really nice at all."

I wonder, are children more perceptive than adults?

No you should not take them seriously. Most of these anti Bush people go by what they hear in the Media and Hollywood. They think just because they read something or see something on the news it is true. The truth is that Hollywood, news reporters, and a good portion of our teachers are a bunch of democrat/ Liberals feeding garbage to the public. They treat people like a bunch of puppets. I have talked to soldiers stationed in Iraq who stand behind our president.
I stand behind my president, it is biblical and he cares about this country. I personally do not want another September 11th, and freedom does not come free however complaining does.
Is Bush perfect? He puts his pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us. Bush is not looking for popularity, he wants to do what is best not what is popular.
If he is such a bad president then why is unemployment so low? Why is Saddam behind bars? Why have we not had another terrorist attack on our homeland since Sept 11th? Why do our soldiers who are on the front lines stand behind him?
Did they have weapons of mass destruction? Just because they weren't there when they looked does not mean they did not have them. Most of the
Media today are so left sided, it is no wonder these people of so misinformed. In stead of complaining people should be thanking our soldiers, and praying for our government.

All this complaining about our own government by fellow Americans is what makes America look weak. Weakness opens us up to being violated again. Unity is what made us strong.

"One nation under God, Indivisible.... (Incase this is hard to understand it means pray and stand behind your government).

Our forfathers would be devostated to see what this country has become.
