This is the first time I've paid attention to the Chargers in some time - is this new "powder blue uniform and numbers on the helmets" just for tonight's game, for this season, or has it been this way for a while? And does anyone else think they look incredibly stupid?

These are one of the old-style "throw back" uniforms that NFL teams wear. The Chargers wore this style back during the old AFL days of the 1960's. I did see a poll that ranked this throw back uniform as the highest rated by the voting fans. Personally, I like them.

That powder blue has ruined many a uniform for many teams....let's hope that this is just a special uniform to be worn very rarely, and that other teams don't resurrect a color that needs to be avoided at all costs.
Yes, it looks very stupid. Even my son (who typically don't pay attention to things like that) that was passing through the room during the game commented on their "strange" appearance. We pointed out that is what they wore way back when...and then he shook his head.

The light blue uinforms are the Chargers "Throwback Uniforms" aka Old School uniform. I think they look awesome.

I don't think they're brand new...but they're not old. I think the uniforms are stupid too...I hate that color so much. (This coming from a Panther fan...another team that has powder blue jerseys...although their uniforms look better with them because that blue is their team color...and they don't have yellow by it :P)

The uniform and helmets that you refer to were their original set-up. They wear the combination a few times. I don't think they are permanent.

Those are their "old school" unis. They wore that scheme when I was a kid, then changed to the darker blue version in later years. They wear them on days they designate to be "throwback" days...

These are the greatest uniforms ever. In any sport, at any time, these unis just scream "old school cool".
