Right handed hockey players play on the right wing because when they pass to the left winger or the center they dont have to risk the backhand unaccurate pass that may be a potential interception and so they dont have to swith postion to make a forehand shot to the net which wastes the clock and gives the defense more time to get in position and catchup and the goalie to get ready for the shot giving the goalie time to prepare is the worst because by the time you take your shot there wont be any holes for that puck to go. thats why right handed hockey players play on right wing left handed hockey players play on the left wing for the same reason reason they dont give the goalie time to prepare nor the the defense creating holes for the score and so when they pass to the right winger there not sending the puck to the backhand there sending it to the forehand.

Right handed shots have typically played right wing in even strength situations. Makes it easier to head man the puck on the break out and speeds up transition.

However, on the power play, right handed shots often play the left side, so the forehand shot has a better angle. Theoretically, the majority of the time is spend in the offensive zone, so transition play and break out is not an issue.

usually he ll play right wing but it depends which way he likes the most.
On the power play it s not a bad idea to put a right handed shooter left wing (michael Ryder last night against phili) Because he was on his forehand he got the shot away faster

A right wing generally will play on the right wing, but it really doesn't matter if he plays on the right or the left. It just makes it easier for him to catch a pass on breakouts on his forehand rather than his backhand.

I'm right-handed, but I played left wing. Mixes it up a little.

depends. How strong the player is on the backhand. I myself play right wing and would prefer to stay on the right, I have better accuracy in tight situations on the back hand.

right side, that's why they call right wing.

when he carries the puck down the right side, he can pass or shoot forehanded instead of backhanded.

he will shoot forehanded if goes around the back of the net.
