The only seed of record that the Pilgrims brought with them was wheat, but it was totally unsuited to the New England rocky soil and failed to germinate. They had salted meat and other food on board, undoubtedly enough for the maximum amount of time the journey could take. Since they made the trip in good time for that era and that time of year, they would have had some food left over.
When they first landed on Cape Cod, they found baskets of corn buried in the sand. They took as much corn as they could carry back to the Mayflower. It was intended for seed, but they probably wound up having to eat it.
Remember, at least half of those on board died that first winter of the "great sickness" so there fewer who had to eat.
They brought at least two dogs with them and used them to hunt deer and other game.

They were STARVING when they met Squanto. They had nothing with them that was of any real use. If not for Native Americans, they would have perished.

it may sound unusual, yet freedom comes from bondage. enable me clarify. authentic freedom might want to suck. There might want to be no regulations, no society, no authorities, no some thing. it could be anarchy and the most useful and fittest might want to live to inform the tale and stay. even with the indisputable fact that, we've regulations and regulations put in position. those insure that we are threat-free (through regulations, police, customs, and so on), and allow us very a lot of deepest freedom. in elementary words through giving up some freedom, can we earnings the optimal volume of freedom. in elementary words through regulations and administration can we truly be at liberty. yet there's a balancing act between happiness + own freedom and regulations and administration.
