it is the accumulation of dust particles which is the molecules of dirt that have been carried through the air fro the earth. If a room is sealed shut with no ventilation whatsoever and no new oxygen or air, then no dust would accumulate.

Dust comes from pretty much everything. Yes, we are breathing it all the time. Gross if you think about it. That's why they sell so many air purifiers.

i saw on forensic files on court tv that dust in comprised of 95% skin and hairs. but if a house is vacant, i have no idea where the dust comes from. if court tv is right, then dust is pretty gross.

lexie is right about where dust comes from, but i have wondered that myself, where dust comes from in a vacant house! curious to see your responses!

the dust comes from the air conditioner vents. check your filters and also check that the ducts don't have holes in them.

It comes from polluted air...duh...what have you been learning in science class??(think about spraying some febreeze though...)
