okay. I want to be first to answer this.
Renewable energy sources, or RES, are those energy sources which are not destroyed when their energy is harnessed. Renewable energy sources are distinct from fossil fuels which must be combusted to release energy. Human use of renewable energy requires technologies that harness natural phenomena, such as sunlight, wind, waves, water flow, biological processes such as anaerobic digestion, and geothermal heat. Traditional uses of wind, water, and solar power are already widespread; but the mass production of electricity using renewable energy sources has become popular only recently, reflecting the major threats of energy crisis and climate that harness natural phenomena, such as sunlight, wind, waves, water flow, biological processes such as anaerobic digestion, and geothermal heat. In the context of energy, "renewable" clearly means "inexhaustible." For example, geothermal energy and the sun's energy are inexhaustible even though never renewed. The same holds true for nuclear energy from the fission of uranium and other actinides. ... Mining additional uranium — including, if necessary, extracting it from seawater — can supply humanity's energy needs for millions of years

renewable energy is energy we make. Ethanol is an example. We grow corn or sugar, turn it into ethanol, and run our cars with it. It is renewable because we can grow more corn and sugar. Oil on the other hand is not renewable because once we pump oil out of the ground, it's gone. You have to look somewhere else for more oil.
