I've never heard that scientists determined that. As a matter of fact, I've read various guesses from scientists about why the human body _doesn't_ last forever. The most recent one, within the last month, was that there's a mechanism built in to stop rapid cell division that has "aging" as a byproduct. The mechanism helps people because it helps prevent cancer, keeping people alive long enough to have children. (If you don't have this ability, then you get cancer and die before having kids and don't pass on your genes.) The bad effect, getting old and dying when you're well past child-bearing years, doesn't affect whether you pass on your genes as strongly, so while we might not like getting old, it's still a good effect as far as evolution is concerned.

it's true that the body has the ability to synthesize the proper protiens required to maintain survival, for what would seem like forever... I think the mystery lies in the question of why our bodies decide to stop synthesizing these proteins, which leads to the eventual decay of cells; AKA aging.

I've never heard that but I'm going to take an educated guess as to why:
I think that we die anyway because of the millions of factors that go into our everyday lives. Some examples might include: gravity(puts strain on our heart and body), bad food (you know why), the air we breathe (pollution), there are tons of others that affect us...
