ashers?
Well I think Australia is clear favourite to win them back.
England have been having a miserable 10 months in terms of injuries, and even though many of these players are on the comeback, you have to question their form and fitness with not much cricket under their belts. Also, Australian pitches are much harder, and take a heavier strain, especially after long spells. Foreign bowlers have a history of breaking down, not something bowlers coming back from surgery will relish.
England just scrapped past Australia with home advantage and their very best team playing 110%, and that without Glen McGrath, and some of Australia's batsmen struggling for form.
Also Gillespie played a shocker in England, and shouldn't have been persevered with. No doubt Johnson will come in, he can bowl 150km+ and swing it both ways, and probably Watson as a fourth choice. So McGrath, Lee, Johnson, & Watson, and of course Warne (plus MacGill as a possible second spinner), Australia have a much, much stronger bowling attack.
With home advantage now with Australia, their batsmen finding form and confidence - Australia have won 7 of their 8 tests this year, and drawn the other, I find it hard to see anything other than a home victory.
3-1 to Aus.
