Not all of them have quit. There are a great many that still have mouthfuls of chewing tobacco or dip. Many have quit chewing tobacco and have switched to sunflower seeds or just gum. The ones that did quit, like Chipper Jones did so because they were being better educated on the negative aspects of tobacco by MLB. Plus as they were getting older and having kids, they wanted to be a better role model and to live longer.

Maybe they realized that to a lot of kids they are role models, so chewing tobacco is not a good thing for kids to see. I think it is great that they dont.

I don't think they have stopped...I've seen quite a few players and managers chewing and then spitting out the black glob into the dugout.

have you seen what it can do to your mouth.
I think the when part was in the late 80's everyone went to sunflower seeds and gum.

They haven't all quit, but they should due to throat & mouth cancer, plus it's a disgusting habit

they stopped cuz they felt like it. or somthin like that. not all of them did though i think.
