The under-15 market is the fastest growing in Japanese porn. Masahiro Kitagawa, one of the industry's new star spotters says "The weakening of Japanese men means guys now place a lot of importance on imagining they have control over the opposite sex... The polarization of the market is likely to continue, but I don't think it will go any lower than the Under-10s."

He's wrong: the latest erotic pin-up is nine year-old Mizuki Furui. Her first photo collection has already sold over 10,000 copies. The oriental JonBenet appears in a selection of poses wearing school uniform, PE kit and a swimsuit, licking an ice cream etc.

I think it's a fascinating phenomenon. I utterly disagree that there is nothing to be said on the matter. Burying one's head in the sand on disturbing issues won't make them go away. Also, there is much that can be done from here to influence others in foreign lands and cultures. Some of us seem to have forgotten the concept of the global village even as it becomes more real every day! Japan has one of the most rapidly burgeoning economies in the world and we in the west still have a massive influence over the global economy, so we can certainly influence Japan financially if we wanted to. Also, for the enlightenment of any who would make comments such as: "the Japanese have always been really 'quirky' about their Eros", know that you are treading on thin ice; such a statement verges on bigotry and certainly smacks of racism.
I also find it sad that the questioner is attacked as playing an active part in this problem, merely by asking his question - such ignorant prejudice. It is just this sort of response that makes politicians avoid controversial topics that need to be addressed.
What interests me is the notion of the 'weakened' Japanese male. I'm aware that the western male has entirely lost the position nature placed him in relative to females, and I'm growing increasingly aware of the trouble this is causing to both sexes i.e. men are faltering and becoming more afraid of, for example, false accusations of rape, and statutory rape, while women are increasingly (apparently) finding their men feeling emasculated and insecure because she is earning more than he is, or because he, in trying to be a 'new' man, has agreed to become a stay-at-home father while she goes out and earns the money. It seems to me that women have mistaken sexual equality with promiscuity; they flaunt themselves and prey on men in search of their own sexual gratification without thought for the consequences. This paedophilia-type fantasy would seem to be a factor in these consequences; in the west we now have a massively sexualized society (and a drug culture i.e. 'everybody' drinks alcohol, as well) which influences our pre-teen females to be increasingly sexual at an earlier age. Moreover, the consequence free attitude of our women towards non-marital sex (as opposed to PRE-marital sex - because marriage as a concept is dead to the majority) can do nothing but perpetuate and compound the trend. Hence men are increasingly surrounded by jail-bait Lolita’s who have been taught that they can strut around wearing what they want with impunity from attack, abuse or manipulation unless she allows it. This sort of power is intoxicating and, of course, corrupting, especially so to a 14 year old. Britney Spears and co sell records predominantly to the 12-15 year old female market while wearing bikinis with albino snakes draped across their tantalizing forms and then they wonder that clothes manufacturers bring out crop tops and mini skirts for tiny tots. If you can look at the pop music charts with a fresh eye, you'll notice that it's more about sex than music now. Jo-Jo is an example that springs to mind - find websites counting down the days till it can legally show faked nude images of her. 'Pop tarts' and young actresses' 'secret' sex tapes are flooding the net. Lindsey Lohan is running amok in Hollywood with her breasts hanging out (literally) of her blouse - only yesterday she was a little girl in The Parent Trap!
It's absolutely no wonder that somewhere in the world there are men seeking to satisfy the cravings these ignorant girls generate. This isn't paedophilia; it's natural - because the females, while under the LEGAL age for sex, are actually sexually mature. Once the female is menstruating, she has the hips of a woman and the breasts of a woman and, above all, she has the MIND of a woman. Youth is the ultimate attraction to a man; in the jungle, females of such illegal age would be prime mating stock although many would probably be too inexperienced to be good mothers. In the jungle however, that doesn't matter; if the infant dies, no matter, the female will quickly be impregnated again and will be more ready for the offspring she will bear the next time round.
So I wouldn't be too quick, women, to vent your loathing on men who find their eyes and minds drawn to the Jo-Jos of our society. I would suggest you look to yourselves and acknowledge, for once, that the ills of human society are as much the product of females as they are of males.

A girl could start menstruating at 11 and grow hips et al at 19 and grow sexually aware at 24! If this kind of person was approached sexually at say, 12 she would have no idea what was happening to her.

Child abuse is a very serious and grievious affair. Many of these young 'uns are launched into a world of sexual behaviour they find themselves participating in long before they are fully aware of what they are doing! They must be protected.

well sick mate, its highly disturbing I know the japanese do get up to some wierd stuff, we have an office in Japan, i remember getting drunk with the guys and some of the stuff they told me was way to wierd. They probably dont do it in Japan but go to other Asian countires Loas, Cambodia, Vietnam Thailand where enough Money will get you out of trouble. a 9 year old girl appearing in a porno mag in japan??! now that i find degrading and sick. this can only encourage potential child sex perverts to act on this when they see this. the japanese are strange and i don't mean it in a derogatory way, though being chinese myself and in looking upon japanese culture it is one which is of many things but twisted and wierd are two words that come into my mind. their anime cartoons have plenty of violence and porn in them; the women in them are usually portrayed as sex victims and objects of sexual desire. and this latest filthy craze takes porn to a whole new dimension. why are japanese kids laping this up, i'd ask? and no offence to the japanese, but i am glad this stuff doesn't take place in china, south korea and hong kong respectively.

What's to think of it...there's nothing to be said for it. But the Japanese have always been really "quirky" about their eros.

Of course it's not comforting to see to see it go this far, but I'm not sure what anyone here, could do about it over there.

I wonder what the statistics about paedophilia are in Japan? Or is it something they indulge in mostly in fantasy?
