What I know is that Jesse Jackson was the only one..the only public personality-- to care about the massive voter suppression and fraud in Ohio. I am white and worked at two polls that day (one 99% black and one 50-50 but poor area) that day and the lines that were 5 minutes long at the same places during the primary in may 04 now had 4-5 hour waits and people I spoke with were practically crying when they had to leave when their child was crying or due to parenting or job obligations. People on chemo were waiting three hours and passing out and not getting to vote.

These lines were caused by the collusion of Republican secretary of State, Ken Blackwell (or Hackwell as he is known around here) and co chair of the reelect Bush campaign and Matt Damschroader (head of Franklin county (Columbus) board of elections and former head of the fr. co. rep party. They also met with Bush that day according to officials at the rep headquarters.

Our republican paper reported on it and also the 75 working machines found in a warehouse when people were dying and begging for machines..one area, a democratic college, had 13 hour lines due to having only 2 machines...some churches here had 13 macines and 5 minute waits (the suburban ones)



All over the state in poor, minority, college areas, the lines were long because they received LESS machines than in the primaries despite 9 times more new democratic voter registrations. I spoke with people who had never voted or hadn't voted in 20 years..and by sworn testimony from voters and poll workers, we know that lines in wealthy and suburban and rural areas were 5-10 minutes or at most 30 minutes due to EXTRA machines and more than they had in the primaries.

Poor and black areas also had many broken machines..one precinct had NO working voting machines and everyone had to vote provisionally...

Jesse Jackson was the ONLY one to come to the aid of the blacks and the poor..and he helped Ohio activists get it all the way to congress in the Conyers report "what happened in Ohio" and this led to the historic election challenge to Bush in congress on Jan 6th--only the 2nd in 228 years.

Jesse jackson made I believe 2 trips here (and cancelled one due to illness)..he helped things to happen by talking to members of congress about what happened here and was instrumental in getting truth into the congressional record and a two hour debate in congress (as the one seen in fashrenheit 9 11 movie in 2000). Only one senator Barbara Boxer was brave enouh to vote for the challenge. I was on his "winter freedom bus" that went to DC on Jan 5th and 6th with other Ohio voters...and proud to be there.

So Jesse Jackson is a hero and a patriot to me..when it happens to one, it could happen to anyone...we are all supposed to be equal and blacks were not treated equally on Nov 2nd 2004 in Ohio.

I urge all of any party who care about fair elections to call congress and ask representatives to cosign and support HB6200 just introduced a week ago..it currently has 19 cosigners and would make all presidential election be hand counted at the precinct on paper ballots to lesson dramatically the chance of fraud and computer glitches

What makes Jesse Jackson and Al sharpton racists (and biggots) is that they emphasize blackness, and not human-ness, or fellow citizenship, inclusively. They speak of blacks as seperate, and not part of the whole.

The worst biggots are the PNAC neo-conservatives, with their American-led world dominiation scheme, who have pitted half of America against the other half (through biggotry, false morality, elitism, and false patriotism) to distract us from their true actions. Namely, re-writing key aspects of the Constitution legislatively to remove our rights and protections, and empower government in highly militaristic fashion. They are dividing us to conquer us, and their constituents will either turn out to be lap dogs, or fellow victims.

The Patriot Acts as well as last week's "torture" bill VAGUELY redefined terrorist to "potential terrorist" and "potential enemy combatant" which can EASILY include any American citizen the government is displeased with, specifically because the wording that would protect us is conspicuosly missing. While loudly pointed out in Congress, the bill was passed anyway, as is. I would start watching what you say in front of your lap-dog neighbors. YOU could be the next victim of military incarceration, without access to a lawyer or our judicial system, held indefinitely, and tortured.
