Wow, great question. Like Helen's character, I would try to hold on to the possibility that he was still alive until, I, myself would realize I would have to move on.
But, when she found out that he was alive, the look on her face when she ran to him, man, you could feel her pain. She would give up her husband and her child to go back the way it was.
And, I know that would be me if that would ever have happen. I would move on after about a full year plus before I ever start "living" again.
(But, if ever I found out that he was alive, I would die a second time.)

Good question! Gosh, who can really say...maybe forever.

But if I really thought he was
dead I would not just stop
living my life because I didn't
have him any longer.
That wouldn't be right.

Maybe one year. They can't be declared dead if no body, unless the courts are petitioned.
