I'm trying to run a T-test between a pretest group & a post test group. I think I'm doing everything right, but the output is all funky. Can someone run through step-by-step how to run a T-test in SPSS?? Surely I'm just overlooking something...

Thanks, Robert_J, but in this instance I NEED to know how to do this T-test, because it's part of a final exam. And I really don't want to waste all that time doing it by hand. Do you know how??

You're studying psychology, right? I've never seen a single instance where you would draw a different conclusion from looking at the raw data than you would draw from looking at it after it has been massaged through all the statistics.

Don't tell anybody, or statistics instructors might have to get a job.

As long as you have a variable that is consistent in both sets of data, you should be okay. Then I think you can use the paired-samples t-test.

In SPSS, from the menu, "Analyze" "Compare Means" "paired samples T Test" In the dialog box, choose the variables you want to use and move them over, then click OK.
