We have to come up with a list on explaining how American political independence grew between the years 1690 and 1750!!! What the heck!! That's even before the Declaration of Independence and the "no taxation without representation!" I don't have a freaking clue what to put down so thanks if you do~ I appreciate any info I can get!

Americans had a really strong Puritan background during a period called the Age of Faith, but in the beginning of the 18th century, their religious awakening shifted into the Age of Reason. During this time social thoughts moved away from theism(god is intimately involved your life) of Puritan thought to the deism(God creates, but then allows nature and humans to function on their own) of Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson. This move from religious idealism to philosophical pragmatism was what began thoughts of American independence, first socially, then politically.

Type in "age of reason" or "thomas jefferson" into google to get more info. good luck!

So do your own homework.

Read the history book for that period. List the events that took place and the dates. Then decide which events affected american political independence. How hard can that be?
