My cat is so mean! His name is jax and he is about 5 and kinda tubby, and really big. Hes really mean to my dog whenever he wants to play, and he only comes around my family when hes wants out or wants food. one time he killed 2 birds in one day, and always kills mice and stuff. One time he had a chipmunk outside, he broke its back and as soon it got far enough away, he'd pounce on it and beat it up. he did the same to about 3 other chipmunks, one of who i found at more door still alive, but my dad had to kill him. then he badly beat a mouse which i cared for until he died of his injuries. but the worst of all was probably when i just came back from fishing. i seen jax run across the road, and i seen an alive chipmunk in the middle of the road. i walked up to it, and it was still alive. a car was coming, so i ran off the road (i didn't think that the car would hit into him, because he was sorta on the other side of the road, but the car hit into him, killing him right in front of me.

That is the cat's nature. I heard that a cat that is fed less will actually hunt less. Maybe you could try feeding him a little less, it sounds like a diet wouldn't hurt him anyway. Also, a collar with a bell might warn the smaller creatures that Jax is near. I hope you find a useful solution. Good luck.

Do I have a mean cat? Well ...... our little furry orange cat does not like the collie next door. It's constant bark is somewhat annoying. It was barking at me this afternoon while I was pulling up some dead plants in the yard. The cat did not like the dog barking at me. She hissed and rushed at the chain fence that seperates the yards and lounged at the dog. Another time the collie was barking at me and our cat walked over to the tree and sharpened her claws. She was ready for him. She really thinks that she is protecting me from that big dog. Another time she chased a little boy on a skateboard up the road. I think she just did not like the skating noise. He ran fast to get away from her, although she has never hurt anyone. She is such a small cat. When I return from my evening walks, she always spys me from a distance and will walk up several house to greet me.

Is she mean? Well... I like to think that she 's just loyal to me. She has been a part of our family for about twelve years.

No, my cat is pretty docile compared to your cat. But it isn´t mean, it´s just a natural hunter. Hunting is in cats natures, in some more than others, and it looks like your cat got more than it´s fair share of hunting genes. I wouldn´t worry about it, it´s sad for the little critters he kills, but it is completely natural, survival of the fittest. Someone else suggested a bell on your cats neck to warn the other animals that he is coming would probably work, id´s give it a try.
And as far as him not being a lap cat and not wanting to play with your dog, that also does not make him mean, not all cats are lap cats, and it coudl be that he just has a bit fo a personality clash with your dog...

I have a chubby cat named Max. He's black and he's really nice to me, but he beats up my other cat. He hogs all the food and bites her all the time. I wonder if Max and Jax would get along? They'd probably go on a Kitty-Kat violence spree...oh and probably hold up the Nine Live's food factory.

Your cat isn't mean, he's practicing & using his hunting skills that nature gave him to survive.

Believe me, you aren't doing the little critters a favor by trying to save them. The odds of them surviving a cat mauling are very slim. You'd be better off having someone put them out of their misery quickly, so they don't suffer.

that is a cats instinct, your cat has his own personality, if you let him outdoors he will continue to kill these little animals, it is what outside cats do. some cats don't like dogs either, it is just that way sometimes.

Cats naturally have the nature to attack rodents and things like that. It doesn't make him mean. and as for notcoming around everyone, and the dog, he might just not like the dog, and it's just his personality.

with outdoor cats, their instinct is to kill, so maybe dont keep it outside. maybe ur cat is older than u think and doesn't want to put up with playful doggies.

unfortunately that is just natural instinct with cats ...i do not like it either but you can not change them..they don't know it is bad..if they were wild that is how they would survive..
