There isn't. People just act as though there were in an effort to feel better about themselves.

Because we are in an imperfect world where all the human inhabitants are imperfect and sinful..Some people try their best to step on others just to become successful. and pursue on their fleshly desires e.g they want to be popuar, they want to excel, they want to be rich..and so use all their means to get their pursuit. Others are just as great as they can be that they need no effort to be great. There are many oppressors too..admit that..there will always inequality as long as their are oppressors and offenders and as long as those who are oppressed do not fight for justice...

Because many people need someone to put down in order to build themselves up. To make it simple they lack self-esteem. When you are a real man or woman there is no need to feel to think of other lessor than yourself.

I am not sure whether its because some people have what they think others should want so they look down on them
or whether its because some people cant have what others do so they put them down.
