On Wednesday next week (18/10/2006) I'll be driving to London, but I'll leave Manchester (Denton to be exact) at 8:30am and coming back same day around 10:30pm. Do you want a lift?

Try Virgin and get one of their advanced tickets, you may be restricted in the times of day you travel thats all. Even now, I prefer to take the bus, especially at Christmas with all the rush, just book a seat and enjoy - cheap.

You can't book that far in advance - you're best calling the trainline and asking when the cheap tickets become available - probably would be £20 or so.

If you want really cheap - go to www.megabus.com and take advantage of the £1 tickets!

The arrogant reply from the "tax paying" Londoner is just one of the reasons you'd be better off staying at home.

www.thetrainline.com

www.megabus.com may be a better alternative. Its dirt cheap, a regular reliable service, and depending on when you travel it can cost you less than £20 return.

They leave from just opposite Chorlton St bus station.
