i'm leaning towards UCLA because it has a stronger academic program, and is much cheaper. I'm from Illinois though, and i've heard it's nearly impossible to get into public California universities if you're not from california. any thoughts?

I take it you are asking about undergraduate school.

What subjects are you interested in -- the schools have, to an extent, different strengths.

I do think that for most subjects UCLA is stronger academically. If the only thing stopping you is the difficulty getting in as a out of state student -- it is worth applying, and seeeing if you get in. If you don't, go to USC.

(Any reason it is just these two?)

About business: the 2007 US News & World Report ranking of business schools, for what it is worth, ranks UCLA's 10th in the country, and USC tied for 29th.

UCLA is definitely stronger academically, though I'm not too sure that it would be cheaper than USC. But just apply to both and see which one you get into. It's not harder for you to get in because you're from Illinois because they still try to get students from as many states as possible.

USC is lots extra perfect. genuine now and the previous couple of years. im useful ucla will make an boost quicker or later, yet usc will likely continuously be a terrific team. they recruit in a great city or perhaps usher in adult men from different states who're very terrific possibilities.

Apply to both. Doesnt hurt to try.

UCLA is stronger than USC overall in terms of academics, but USC has a better business program.

USC (on campus) has gotten much safer now. If you want to go to USC, remember, DONT GO ANYWHERE OFF CAMPUS AT NIGHT. IF YOU DO NEED TO GO OFF CAMPUS, GO WITH SOME FRIENDS. ALWAYS BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE AT AND USE YOUR COMMON SENSE.

I know that UCLA is cheaper for CA residents, but i dont know about out of state.

good luck :-)

UCLA. It's a better institution academically. I believe it has a 95th percentile rank for academics in the nation. (Out of 99.)

USC has good networking post-grad, but it's not as good academically.

In terms of out-of-state admissions, don't worry. It's not impossible. If you have high enough SATs and GPA, with quality ECs, you're in.

While UCLA does have that excellent academic program, USC has something equally important- Alumni.

Certainly apply- I don't know how tough UC admission is for non-California applicants, but I'm guessing it's been overstated.

UCLA is your choice. 'sc is in the ghetto, it has a population of spoiled rich kids, and it is not as respected academically. UCLA is in Bel Air, it has high academic standards, and has a very diverse student population.

It is hard to get in, because UCLA gets more applications than any school in the world. But it is worth you effort. I'd try other UC's (Berkeley, Santa Barbara, etc.) before 'sc.

UCLA!!!!! It's in a safe, upper class neighborhood. USC is in one of the worst areas of Los Angeles. At USC, you might get killed in a random street crime before you graduate.
