I have to wake up at 7.30am mon-fri, usually going to bed at 10 or 11pm. Im always tired in the morning and always need a nap when i get home, around an hour. At the weekends i sleep for 12hours! and can still fall asleep later that day! Im not over weight or have health problems, i dont want to be classed as lazy but i dont think i have a sleep disorder either. I am always tired though. Worst is on the weekends cos i sleep so much Sunday nights i dont go to be till around 1, which messes me up for the week as im so tired on Monday morning. Im always catching up on sleep. Ive tried getting up earlier on the weekends (9am) but it doesn't last as bed is so comfy, and im even more tired as i haven't cought up on my sleep? Need help not to sleep through life!!!!!!

You should ask your doctor - you may have a whole range of problems, though the most likely is that you're anemic - you don't have enough iron in your blood so you can't make enough red blood cells. It's a very common condition, especially in women, and it's easily cured with supplements or a diet change.

Lucy - I could have typed this question out myself. I am exactly the same.

I have no idea why - but I've always been the same. If I go to sleep without setting the alarm, I will naturally sleep for about 11 hours. And then, just like you, I feel a bit drowsy in the afternoon.

Some people just seem to need and crave more sleep than others.

Count yourself lucky!! I do day on day off for 2 weeks, come off my day shift every second tuesday then straight on to a week of nights the following wednesday!!!!!!! All 14hr shifts and i work on a ship, so with the weather being crap at the moment my shifts are even longer!!!!!!!!! Dont get 2 minutes to scratch me a***, let alone do anything else!!!!!!!! Try doing my job for a year or two, that'll sort your sleeping problem out!!!!!

Or, just go to bed a bit earlier, you'll soon catch up on it.

There are many things that can cause this, not exercising, changing hormones, depression, etc... If it continues for a long period of time see a dr.
