I understand what you're saying. I have encountered numerous African Americans who have accused my ancestors of enslaving theirs.
Most of them still think I am guilty of some kind of crime to them from my ancestors when I tell them that my ancestors did not even come to America until after the first World War, let alone own any African slaves.
Has hatred really caused some people to grow so think in the head?

While racism is still alive and well, to some extent, the slavery thing is a cop out.As of the year 2006, slavery has been over for damn near 140 years, but black people didn't really start getting treated "equally" until the civil rights movements of the 1960's.When you look at it that way, you can kind of understand why some people might get a little pissy about the subject.

Most if not all races can trace a time in history when they were enslaved. Why Americans of African decent whine so much more about it I have no idea. Other than it's easier to p!ss and moan than do something with your life in a country that, even with it's problems, has more opportunity than anywhere else in the world.

If they are complaining then they are trying to get sympathy and special privileges over a dead issue. By bringing up the subject they are attempting to cast a guilt trip onto people who buy into the story. I never had anything to do with slavery and no one is ever going to make me feel the least bit guilty about it. It is history.

Because they need to come up with some kind of excuse for their poor work ethic and lack of education. They claim that the government is still mistreating them (which has yet to be proven) so that they can get to have special priveleges in society without having to work like the rest of us have to.
