It's for science fair, and to keep the experiment controlled, I need bacteria (but it would be best if it's all of one kind) and agar and petri dishes. Does anyone know where I can find this? A reputable store or website would be the best.

I've actually shopped at one of their stores in WI several times. Their stuff is decent, and I think it's pretty cheap. Some of it extremely cheap.

It can actually be difficult for an individual to buy petri dishes, as many lab supply outfits won't sell to people outside of institutions (because they don't want to get in trouble for supply illegal drug manufacturers). So you may need your science teacher to place the order for you to be delivered to the school.

There are a lot of suppliers of petri dishes. See if you can get hold of a catalog from Fischer or Baxter Scientific. You can get agar from Difco (among others). Be aware that most bacteria won't grow on pure agar (there's no nutrient source) so what you actually want might be a bacterial growth medium such as LB or Maconkey - also available from Difco or anyone else who sells agar.

As for the bacteria, you need to know what you want - which will also determine the conditions of your experiment. For standard E. coli strains, try New England Biotech.
