Sports/Coaching/Managing is a cruel business.

Joe Torre has done an outstanding job in 11 years with the Yankees. Let's give George some credit for sticking with him. The first 5 years were something special. Decline started each year and progressed:

In 2001, things changed. The Arizona World Series showed the Yankees are vulernable.

In 2002, Anaheim stood up to the Yankees and knocked them out early.

In 2003, the Yankees let an inferior Florida team beat them.

In 2004, we all know what happened against Boston.

In 2005, they again lose to Anaheim

And in 2006 despite one of Torre's best seasons as Yankee manager, they played awful in the playoffs.

The funny thing is - nobody was talking about Joe Torre's job security before the Detroit series. However the Detroit series was so disgraceful - and when you look at the previous 5 seasons, you realize that a change needs to be made.

It's hard for a manager to be in one place for 11 years. Hopefully George will let Joe go with the class and dignity that Joe has brought to the Yankees in the last 11 years.

I think Stienbrener should fire himself...or at least rethink how he spends his money. I would think that this last debacle should cement what I've been saying for like 3 years now. You can't win a championship with out pitching. The Tigers proved it this year. Last year the two best hitting teams in the MLB (New York and Boston) sat home and watched the series. While two team with good hitting, and excellent pitching (ChiSox and the Astros) went to the show.
Wake Up George and Brian....!!!!!!
GO GET SOME FRIGGIN PITCHIN'.........!!!!!!!

This one is not Torre's fault............

I don't see why either should be fired. There was only one questionable action, starting Jaret Wright in Game 4 (he did pitch like he has pitched all year long too). Otherwise, I have no idea what could have been done differently. They faced no-hitters twice in the past two weeks. 1 run the last two games, okay. But who do you take out, the home run threats? The two hitters that chased the batting title this year? The two that were injured for most of the year?

The Yankees should move to Romania, Torre should be fired, and Steinbrener should drop dead of an @ss attack.....You know, the place where his heads at.
