The best thing to do is pay your fine(s) even if you have to use a credit card or borrow the money from friends or family.
The boots come in a variety of different models, but they have a a few things in common; they are made of hardened steel, and they are almost impossible to get off without damaging your car. I say almost impossible, because it would be possible to get it off if you just so happen to have professional cutting torch handy.
However, should you get caught removing a boot on your own, I'm sure you would end up with even heavier fines to pay and maybe even charges for destruction of property.
If you some how did manage to get if off and not get caught there's a good chance you would end up with another boot on your car, or they might even tow it away if they have a record that it already had a boot and see that it does not have one on it for some reason now. They would probably figure you got it off somehow and take the appropriate action. It all depends what steps they take to crack down on these types of offenses.

You probably could try breaking the boot off, but then you'd get stuck paying for that as well. Chalk this up to experince, pay the fine and pledge to never do this again. Violating parking rules makes it inconvenient for everyone that needs a spot. I've seen cars vandalized for this as well as towed. So you're lucky in this regard. I'm not going to win a popularity contest here, but this is the truth. Sorry your car got booted.

Unfortunately, you must pay the fine first. There may be additional charges against you if you damage the boot trying to illegally remove it.
Additional details:
You should have thought about that before you Illegally parked your car.

If you can't afford the existing fine, you won't be able to touch the one for illegally removing the boot. Get familiar with the public transit in your area.

Legally you can not remove it. Pay the fine.
Illegally use a plasma cutter. Just be careful of the brake lines.
Then when you go to jail you won't have a job to go to, no problem!
