Chartered Accountant is a qualification in Canada, Austalia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. I don't know whether they recognize each other or not formally.

In the USA that designation belongs to a Certified Public Accountant, a state by state designation that requires passing a uniform national exam. Ask the state board of accounting (part of the state government) in the state where you would like to work and see if the CPA exam is necessary in addition to your existing qualifications.

The ultimate answer to your question depends on state law.
