i saw one of my friends (27 years old) sucking her thumb at her desk yesterday. she says she always does it. would that freak anyone else out? am i being unreasonable? do all girls still do this?

No, all girls do not do that first of all. Secondly, some of us grow up with habits that just are naturally implanted into our heads. *like chewing on nails and such* Some may be a result of a nervous habit, or just naturally happens that just dont go away. Or maybe it was a security issue, like some people have a security blanket, and maybe sucking her thumb calmed her down as a child or something along the lines of it. It is a little wierd to see, but it shouldnt be freaking you out. Thats what makes us all different, all unique. I mean, she likes sucking her thumb, but that doesnt make her any more different then someone who likes to jump off of roofs for fun.

No not all girls suck their thumbs. I know a guy that sucked his thumb and at the time he was 29. It is just something some people do to pacify themselves.

Maybe its a nervous habit. Like i bite my nails when I'm up set. I think you are being unreasonable. She might have issues. And no not all girls do this.

My sister still sucks her thumb and she's 21 it becomes a habit i guess

not all girls do it but i would say most girls who sucked there thumb when they were little will still do it when they are older.im 16 and if it wasnt for the fact that i was forced to have braces then i would still be sucking mine and my nan still sucks hers and my mum sucks hers.

Some people like the feeling of having something in their mouth. It's normal to a point.

I don't suck my thumb!!
I can assure you that not all girls do that.
Some people (including males) suck their thumbs or do stuff like that because that's how they feel secure. Maybe if your friend feels insecure she does that to help make herself calm down.

Don't worry its kinda normal I know a girl who's 18 and still doing the same thing. I think its a comfort thing of some sort or somthing they do when their tired. Ya its freaky but hey everyone to their own divices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i never suck my thumb i think its gross but i have an aunt that sucks her thumb still shes about 33. when i was a kid i would think she looked ridiculous, a grown woman sucking her thumb.

Not that I know of & I'm a girl...maybe it's a subconcious/nervous gesture? Or maybe she just likes sucking on something....lol.
