My mother would send me to the local ice cream palour and tell me to get a pint of half chocolate and half coffee ice cream and we would share that on Sunday nights. I still love ice cream more than any other dessert.

My grandparents lived in Alabama. I remember my grandma's German Chocolate Cake was like the first cake I could remember eating. It would take her hours to make it from scratch. Measuring out all of the ingredients. Adding things in so precisely. You never have had anything so moist and delicious......and she watching her make it......you knew why. Everytime I took a bite of it I would say the same thing. "Will you please teach me to make this??" And everytime she'd smile and tell me she would when I was ready.

The sad part is.......I never learned how. After her passing, my sister and I searched that kitchen up and down to find her recipe. I'm thinking she never had it written down. I've tried to make it as I remember from watching her so many times, but it never comes out the same as hers. *sigh*

But definitely my earliest memory of an amazing dessert would be my grandma's German Chocolate Cake!

When I was like five years old I used to go out to dinner on Saturday nights with my Grandma & Grandpa. We would always go to this place in Santa Barbara called Loops. I always had one-quarter of a hamburger for dinner, and then for dessert, I always had this glass parfait dish filled with layers of chocolate and vanilla pudding. They always put whipped cream and a cherry on top for me.

I miss my Grandpa and I want some pudding!!

Not really dessert, but I have early memories of eagerly anticipating going to church mainly for the glazed donuts we'd get after Sunday school. I think I was 4 or 5.

Spotted Dick. Like a sponge filled with currants and sultanas, covered in hot creamy custard. Unfortunately now I'm *cough* older, the name just puts me right off...
