I agree. Intellectuals should be held in higher esteem than athletes. Doctors and teachers should be held to a higher level of appreciation than actors and actresses.
The construction worker should also be more appreciated.
There has been a severe decline in intellectual standards and a fantastic inversion of values if it's commonplace that children in school mock the intellectual with labels such as "geek", "nerd", "dweeb", etc.
It is absolutely abhorrent to me that a teacher is paid less than an athlete and it is disgusting that rather than a doctor receiving gratitude he is expected to perform miracles and faces the constant threat of a lawsuit.
It is disappointing that a construction worker who contributes so much to society by his labor is often overlooked and underappreciated.
While I appreciate the athlete and performer as well I refuse to believe the greater reward they receive is deserved or justified.
This injustice also applies to police officers, soldiers, firemen and public service workers in my opinion as well.
The priorities of people today leave much to be desired- it is abhorrent, disgusting and stupid.

Yes, I agree. Well about the celebrity part anyway. Doctors are not high on my list though. Being a mid-wife, I find doctors to be almost as full of themselves as actors, maybe even more except that they don't parade it in front of our faces. Now paramedics and nurses, that's something different, they definitely go through hell for us all and get very little respect for it.

I think this is changing though. As people find better things to do with their lives and better things to spend their money on, those celebs will find it harder to make a living. If you want to start, don't buy that next CD or movie and give that money to a charity that helps people. Instead of going out to that movie, learn what's going on in your local public services. Is your fire department volunteer and are they looking for help? We make our choices at the ground level. The more people not buying into entertainment, the more real issues become important.

I'd like to know why all of the professional sports people get millions of dollars. NO ONE IS WORTH ALL THAT BECAUSE THEY PLAY SPORTS. You're right, what about all of those that make our lives easier? Like doctors, nurses, mechanics, surgeons, construction workers, architects? I could go on and on.
One of the people that comes to mind is Paris Hilton. Who does she think she is? All that money and no fukking brains. Why doesn't she do something with her slutty self and go to school? What an embarrassment to her parents.

I agree.
It's not right that sports stars and actors recieve millions for simply showing their face while soldiers are risking their lives for very low pay. A lot of doctors do make a lot of money, but nurses, paramedics, police officers, and firemen sure don't, which is completely insane if you ask me.

Here, here I am with you. It seems that at times the wrong people are getting publicity for all the wrong reasons. I totally agree with you.

Have a good day

More importantly, what about ME??

In fact, I should be special treatment all the time!

And I should get millions of dollars just for
getting said special treatment.

Do you agree with me?

OFCOURSE you do!
What a silly question.

I think everyone should be educated - at least enough to use spell check if they can't spell. It makes a world of difference in how others perceive you.

We(the fans) pay their salaries...so if we stop being so obsessed with them, they won't get paid as much. We can control their salaries, if we really wanted to. Doctors, police, firemen, military should be getting paid the most!!!
