Well, historically, the answer is... no.
After all, the Foley stuff is hardly anything new to Washington. In 1983, Gerry Studds (D-Mass., who was 36 at the time) was busted flying his 17 year old male page to Morocco for a, ah, romantic getaway. He was censured but managed to get elected and re-elected until he retired in 1996.
Add to that the fact that most incumbent Democrats and Republicans have pretty much gerrymandered their districts to the point that it would take an H-bomb to blast them out, and you can understand why not too much changes, despite the people's outrage.
But although the Republicans have handed the Democrats scandal after scandal on a silver platter, the Democrats seem incapable of getting their act together... and this election is no different. Outrage only goes so far, and people need to hear ideas before they get out and vote. the Democrats have been long on venom and blame, but awfully - painfully- short on ideas.
One thing for sure... it's going to be a crazy few weeks up to the elections...

I certainly hope so. Foleys conduct and The Speakers response are a national disgrace. I think we'll see a radical change in the make up of our law makers after the November elections.

If people can't see that the war was ill thought out and a mistake.
That our borders are not secure and we are over run with illegals.
That the government is corrupt and inefficient.
I doubt that Foley will make much difference.

The pedophile lobby will be looking for a new candidate. ;)
All kidding aside, I think people will say it has an effect, but in the end, it won't mean much. Republicans were already in trouble, and this just gives a more obvious reason.
I predict that Democrats will gain seats, but not take back over the Congress.

Just saw this subject on CNN. To some extent, yes. Especially in the Bible Belt. But significantly? I doubt it. When you think of all the miscreants--both parties--& how very little impact they had in the long run of it....
