You might be able to get in but its gonna be really tough. A great SAT score would really help. I dont think you would be able to get into UC Davis with a 3.0 gpa. You might have a shot at UC Santa Cruz, but that would be a tough one. Dont know about Merced. I dont think you would have a shot at the other UCs
good luck :-)

if that's your UC GPA, it would be a long shot. if not, you might be ok. the UCs have a special way of calculating GPA- As of any kind (A-, A, A+) are 4, Bs are 3, Cs are 1, and lower is no credit. honors classes give a .3 boost to that's class's grade points, and APs get a .5 boost. take into account only your sophomore and junior year. if your GPA is still 3.0, you're below the average for all the UCs, and you'd better have really really good scores and other things to make up for it. check the UC website for more information.
best of luck.
the lowest average GPA for any UC (merced, specifically) is about 3.55.

In all reality, IQ, SAT and GPA don't do as much for you as many people think. GPA and SAT scores may help you get into a wanted college, but the type of college you go to does not always define how good of a scientist you are. IQ's are often a good indicator of academic performance, but not always. Some people have very high IQ's but struggle with certain academics. If I were you, I wouldn't worry. College is only the first 4 years of your schooling. To be a Neuroscientist you are going to need to go onto graduate school. Your first 4 years of schooling will make little impact. In reality, your graduate school Performance will be of greater importance. @Baby: An IQ of 185 is not impossible. My fiance has an IQ over 200, and that is according to Mensa tests. There are plenty people in the world who have high IQ's. .1% of the population seems small, but it actually comes out to be a fairly large number. Thats thousands and thousands and thousands of people in the USA that have an IQ higher than that.....

You may have a chance of getting into Merced. But you still have to take the SAT and 2 SAT II Subject Tests.

Here are the 3 college's sites:
http://www.ucsc.edu/public/
http://www.ucmerced.edu/
http://www.ucdavis.edu/index.html
I had trouble finding requirements, so contact them by email or phone. I'm sure you'd be fine making it in, though. Just make sure you participate in a variety of activities and community service, because grades are only a small factor. Good luck!
