Someone who walks tall, shakes your hand when introduced, will start a conversation with someone instead of waiting to be spoken to, doesn't feel threatened by someone who might be better looking, or richer, etc.
Oprah Winfrey exudes confidence (as she should)!!!!

One that is willing to accept the blame rather than pass it down.

one that is willing to give credit up or down when credit is due.

one that is willing to listin to the other side of the plan or story
rather than just go with their own idea.

one that is free with praise openly.

one that counsels in private

one that allows people to train in multiple jobs rather stagnate in one to increase overall skill levels (includes allowing one to replace them one day) Thats true confidence--I am going to get promoted or get another job and I want a person ready to step into my Job wihtout missing a beat!

Allow grievances to be orally voiced-and no animosity taken.
in meeting-not in work area.

allows workers suggestions to be tried and tested.

disciplines promptly.

rewards promptly.

stay tuned in to peoples family and reflects that compassion.

making yourself available in crisis situation 24 hours a day.

take a stand- if i don;t have the answer I will get you to one who can help you,

never ever lie or hedge or failed to keep promise.

if you plan to take afternoon off or late lunch let people know the truth-don't cover up-be straight up.

most important thing about confident person is-- you react in a manner that people expect and trust you to.

in my book the signs of a confident person are like that there sure of themselves and sure of where they are and who they should be cowardly people make fun or pick on other people just to try to build their confidence but it doesnt get them anywhere

They stand-up straight, look you in the eye, speak in a clear, well modulated voice, clothes are neat and clean as well as well groomed, firm handshake, smile at the right times. These are just a few that I can think of and I'm sure there are many others.

The bottom line is SECURITY. Some one who can't be shaken, no matter what, do to security. Not saying they have to be cocky and forthright, just some one with the ability to, no matter what the circumstances, CANNOT BE SHAKEN.
