I don't have either a registered business or Tax ID...so even if you can do it, isn't it illegal to accept money online for a service and not claim it?

Yes you can add a paypal shopping cart to your website. You can work under your social security # and file your earnings on your taxes that way. Some Home Child care providers, beauticians, barbers, people who have their own computer repair business etc work under their socails and file it on their taxes so it is perfectly legal.

You need to register your business. You can get in trouble for tax evasion if you don't register your company. You could end up doing jail time for tax evasion. So please do it legally. And paypal does require a business account.
