yes, you are shallow, what does it matter if he is overweight???
what is important is that he is a nice person, and you already admit that he is.
I would rather have an overweight man who is a darling than a hunk who is so up himself that he is an idiot.
get over it...how would you feel is someone didn't want to go out with you one day because you were overweight, or short, or too tall...oh they think that you are a lovely person, but you just don't look good enough... Would it hurt??? I think so
Don't be that person

Yes you are very shallow. The fact that you need other peoples approval about going out with a kid, that from your description is a very nice person is horrible. His weight shouldn't matter. If a guy that you thought was good looking asked you out (even if he was not a nice person) you wouldn't even be here asking this question.

You said he was a nice guy and that's important. But are you also attracted to him? It'd be shallow if that was all you noticed, but it seems like you noticed other things. Someone can be a great person and you like their company, but you DO need to have some kind of attraction to them. Anyone who says that looks have no bearing are liars. Looks have some meaning.
If you like him and are attracted to him, go out with him. If not, then don't and don't beat yourself up about it.

No you're not, you're just having a normal first impression/insticnt. Let me tell you, when I first met this one guy in 5th grade, I thought he was such a DORK he dressed really nerdy, was in the 4th grade, had weird hair, etc. but he always tried to talk to me and liked me. Well honey, it's now many many many years later and we've been married for over 4.5 years and are so happy! It took me until about 8th grade to talk to him and become his friend, then until senior year to ask him out. We both think each other was worth the wait! You never know what can happen until you try!

Yes you ARE shallow. Only YOU would know whether you are willing to go out with him. But I'm sure he deserves someone better to go out with than you.

Yeah, I mean he could lose weight anyways especially if he is a teen he will probably end up loosing it... Looks are important kind of because you have to be attracted to somebody I think but you should look at his personality too.
