Have faith. Someone out there is looking for you to play the part. Not a 20 year old. Keep auditioning, and take any job that will get you into Actors Equity. ANY job.

Right mate - here's a bit of sense.
We're the same age but I've always done this.
Downside is the business is at an all-time low.
A shufti at TV will show you there is very little drama being made.
Theatre, particularly provincial and small-scale is on its backside too.
The growth areas are corporate entertainment, living history and training.
Actors are making good money doing role-play and some of my colleagues do this and nothing else, having very comfortable lifestyles through it.
Try the web for corporate entertainment companies.
Murder-mysteries, single-actor presentations, readings.
It varies tremendously and the pay is usually good.
You'll need to market yourself - decent photo, CV.
What about voice-over?
This pays more than most areas of our work.
Record a CD with three short pieces on it.
Bit of clasical nonsense.
Segment of contemporary novel.
End-of-news type piece.
Try for an agent but it's not neccessary - we get most of our work ourselvers.
Join Equity - it's cheap insurance if nothing else.
What about Santa?
Not exactly the bard but I got a hundred and fifty pounds a day for it last year.
Would you rather be doing a two-hander in a Scout hut for profit share?
You get work through contacts so blast out e-mails, arrange meetings, go and see shows.
DO NOT DO WALK-ON WORK.
What if the casting director sees you for a part and remembers you as the bloke in the pub from his last production?
Not good.
But what about grabbing a few colleagues and staging your own piece?
Twenty years ago I did this in pubs.
Didn't lead to much but it kept me acting.
Then I scraped up a few bob and made a short film.
BBC bought it.
Didn't harm my prospects at all!
But you've just got to keep going.
That alone will get you through.
Don't sit in the theatre bar and whinge about lack of funding, telly, agents and whatever.
Ninety per cent of us are not working.
Running a production company, I can assure you that most 'actors' do not want to work and most fail to return calls.
So get up, get out there and do some bloody acting!

Do you act? You didn't give much detail. Do you want to act in movies or theater? You have a lot of unanswered questions. Take courses first and then get an agent to put you in the movies or theatre paid productions.

Get in touch with all TV companies to see if they are recruiting new actors or extras for TV work.
