No, it doesn't hurt. A podcast is like a radio broadcast for your iPod, except you download it to put it on your mp3 player. I sue them all the time, they are free of charge and are very useful if you want to find out about new music. And you can do it with or without an iPod. How cool is that?

A podcast is a multimedia file distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers.

It's a cast for pods. Similar to when you break a leg, or an arm -- when you break a pod. For example, when shelling peas, you may break a few pods. If you want to keep a few around for memories, then you would put them in a cast, and then they would be preserved for a long time.

It doesn't hurt at all.
