I have a Fathead lavender which was lovely until this year when it became leggy and spindly. I don't know how to care for it. Should it be cut right back? I don't want to kill it or prevent it flowering next year.

It shouldn’t hurt it but don’t cut it right back, trim it with the hedge shears

Lavender does tend to get leggy at times,so yes it needs a hair cut.Just take your shears and shape it rather than cut it right back. It should be fine next spring.

Go ahead, cut it back. Lavender will readily regrow next year. You might want to cut it back and then put a good mulch around the plant to prevent the roots from freezing if you are in a climate that has a harsh winter.

Yes it's just the right time to do it. Don't be scared of cutting it as it will give you more flower next season. Also feed them once in a while with a good plant food.

I cut my Lavender down to one third every year just after the first good frost. Every year it seems to flower better and better!
