There are many different materials used to weave baskets. Wicker is a popular one. Willow is another or bark. There are some people who use pine needles.

Lots of things can be woven into a basket. Splints are thin strips of wood, reeds, straw, here in Charleston they are famous for making sweet grass baskets.
