My computer recently started to reboot itself. You can be using the computer at the time or it could be idle, when it suddenly goes off for a split second, then comes back on and sets itself up again.
Sometimes, it will do this as many as 6 times in a few minutes, rebooting itself before it has even had a chance to set up, other times it will be fine for a few hours and then do it.
I have run all my virus scans, error fixers etc and all find nothing wrong.
Apart from this problem, the computer is working fine.
As you can imagine, it is very annoying when you are in the middle of something and it goes off and you lose what you were working on....
Any ideas what it could be or how to solve it???

I am going to stick with the power supply even though you have had it tested. If the reboots are random there is no doubt it is the supply or a loose connection. Start by checking all the connections.

As the power supply heats up the demand on it increases. Funny things happen with electronics as they heat.

A friend of mine had the same problem. He absolutely refused to replace the power supply. So i brought one over to him that i owned and lent and then sold it to him becuase it was his power supply.

Keep in mind that your power supply was ok while it was tested and i assume that your computer did not reboot during the time of the test.

Please have faith in this otherwise you will drive yourself crazy.

If you've checked the power supply including the cords and this still persists try doing a "System Restore" to before this started happening! Sounds like you'll have to get a little lucky and it wont shut off in the middle of the Restore! Might be better to do the Restore in "Safe Mode". Does it shut off or re-boot in "Safe Mode"?
