You are right there are a lot of people out there who have to be sarcastic instead of offereing help which is what you are asking for. Just remember though chances are the horse either got the injury to its leg from another horse or putting her in a trailor either way the pain from it can also cause her to be skittish. She wants help but right now she doesn't know if she can trust you to do it so be patient and calm, take a small treat for her in your hand to give her to build up her trust. We have one horse that is very sociable but when he gets hurt he is the most difficult to deal with. I have tried the lavendar on horses before and had 50/50 results. Whatever you do just get it cleaned and some iodine on it. After she sees you aren't going to hurt her she will start to calm down some. We also had a skiddish colt and everytime before we did anything with him we had to rub him with a blanket and let him sniff it out so that he "knew" what we was using. A lip twitch works but a horse can and will still kick even with one on.

Hello. I'm sorry I didn't see your first question, but I did go and look. Martha S. and kbiequest have given you very good advice. When you're treating the animal, remember to maintain a calm, composed voice and body language. This will help you administer a bit of needed treatment.

I agree with Gypsy. A calm manner and tone of voice are essential when caring for an injured horse.

Does that change the fact that right now you are in violation of the law in many states??????? If you have an injured animal, you have to provide vet care....even if Pops took one to the nads.
