when i try to open my regestry it says that another program is currently using this program is there any way to find out what program it is that is using that??

This sounds like you have Spyware or a virus. Reboot into SAFE mode and run your anti-virus program. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

if you find the registry entry, you might be able to run a search in the finder, and then open the containing folder.
if not i would probably start disabling one program at a time in the system tray. (bottom right hand corner of screen)

open and modify the registry by clicking start, run, and typing regedit. I hope you know what you are doing as you can hose a system badly by modifying the registry.
